I am getting a P0017 code. I was already getting this code and I replaced both cam shafts, both CVVT gears, and all timing components. What else is there to fix to get rid of this code? All the oil pressure thingies (can’t remember the exact name rn) seem to be working fine.
Is it the oil pressure valves, or is it something else? Dirty oil? I’m not sure. Any help to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

exhaust cam shaft sprocket is notorious for pin breaking off into cam shaft, also oil control valve replacement, but no one on any blog or thread, said to hook up scan tool after repair and reset adaptation, which must be done after these repairs, which returns every thing back to factory

P0017 usually points to a crankshaft/camshaft correlation issue. Since you've replaced timing components and CVVT gears, next things to check:

  • Crankshaft position sensor or camshaft position sensor – one could be faulty or slightly misaligned.
  • Oil control valves (OCVs) – even if they seem okay, they can stick or fail intermittently.
  • Dirty oil – yes, it can affect VVT operation. Make sure you’re running clean oil and the right viscosity.
  • Timing alignment – double-check that everything is 100% aligned; even a tooth off can trigger that code.

Hope that helps narrow it down!
