Hi,

Sorry to post this in the reply section, but I am a new user. My issue is regarding the transmission. I hv a 2010 Elantra SE and it has around 67K miles on it. Recently, I took my vehicle to a dealer for local repair and he figured out that my transmission fluid is getting black and says even if we change the trans fluid, there is something in the car which again is going to make the fluid bad. I am just wondering is this a power train and will this be covered by Hyundai as per their 10 YR/ 100,000POWERTRAIN WARRANTY.. Pls suggest thanks

If you are the original owner, it should be covered......BUT the normal proceedure is to change the fluid (not a flush) and then check it again in a thousand miles or so.

You often can tell more about the SMELL of the oil than by the color.
If it smells burnt, then there likely is a problem.

You can't really tell anything about the COLOR without drawing out a few ounces to look at.

I think the odds are 50/50 that they are trying to suck a big chunk of money out of your wallet.
