I have an Elantra 2009 with 70,000 miles in great condition thus far. However, I am getting a bit frustrated with the driver legroom (I'm 6'3"), particularly when I'm taking a trip that lasts over two hours. Is it a) legal and b) safe to have the driver's seat rebolted so I get an extra two inches of legroom? I see some specialty shops that claim to offer this service, but of course, they are going to promote their quality and service. Any suggestions (besides buying a different car)? Thanks

I don't think you'll find any legality with it but safety would be the concern. Not sure the seatbelt will be up against your body like it currently is if you move back much more.
I would imagine to make it bolt in safely you would also have to put some sort of plate under (like a large washer) the car to reinforce the area your new bolts would go through so they don't just rip through the floorboard in a major accident.
