It's been a while now, but my gas tank takes forever to fill up! I have to stand and do it manually the entire time. It will only fill up if I hold the pump handle and push the lever about a quarter of the way in. Any more pressure than that, and the nozzle clicks off as if it were full. I'm not sure what has caused this, because it started out of no where one day. Any one else have this issue?
I have a 2000 Elantra Sedan.

Thank you!

sounds like the air tube is clogged. You may also try pushing the nozzle in as far as you can, then, pull it back out slightly, until the pump handle pulls downward just a bit, but, is still inside the fill hole. I've had to do this a few times in the past as well, and just pulling the nozzle back out, and down a bit, did the trick for me.

My mechanic ordered a part from the dealer. Look like a tube about 8" long or so. Says it was $70 and that he may have to take the gas tank off, I'm like wtf.

alright, I have found a picture on the internet and it matches what he showed me in the brand new sealed bag he got from the dealer. It is called a FUEL TANK VENT ASSEMBLY (part number 311552D500) For a while I thought it was called a Fuel Fill Vent Valve. Anyway, can't it be replaced by removing the back seats and accessing from inside the car. I saw a video on YouTube where they do that for a Sonata.
