I purchased (stole :)) this car from a young dude that just upgraded to a newer Hyundai. He only wanted $800 so I grabbed it. My Volvo engine died so I needed something immediately. I haven't driven a stick since 2008.
I have to say, even though I'm more used to and love my larger, more comfortable rides (Volvo, Cadillacs, etc..), I love this little Elantra. I'm getting about 33 mpg avg in the city on the way to work and about 42 mpg on the hwy! It drives like a go-kart and stops on a freaking dime. I think he told me it has about 160 HP(?). I kinda feel young again... LOL
I don't know ANYTHING about car mechanical work. Needs brakes bad first and foremost. Not sure about engine work because it runs nice.. a bit loud for my taste. Very freaking bouncy... can't even drink coffee in the **** thing without spilling it all over. Need to get struts or springs or something in the back.
Anyway, just wanted to say HI to everyone and wish you a great day!

How is it going now, Chris? Brakes? Shocks? Is the ride better? I am considering buying a 2016 GT, but was concerned by the Consumer Reports low "owner satisfaction" rating for the 16 Elantras.

It certainly looks neat. You have the same car as my dad. He won't let go of it even if he has the means to get a completely new car. I recently purchased a replacement LED lights for him from 4WheelOnline. I've noticed that his current lights were dimming and not as efficient to use as before.
