I was changing my alternator on my 2013 Elantra and hit the connector that sits above the alternator snapping it from the terminal on the engine block. Now my alternator is not charging the battery at all. So what did I break and how do I fix it?

I don't know what the part is called but I have a question before I give any suggestions.
Is the part circled in yellow supposed to be connected to the part still on the engine?

If so, I would start by unscrewing the part in the engine.
The press the brown piece I circled in red and pull out/unplug the part in yellow.
Lastly a visit to the parts house is in order. I don't know the name, or what it does, but hopefully someone at a parts house - either parts store or dealer - will know or have a diagram.

For visual reference, maybe set the piece in place and get a broader picture of where it is in the engine compartment.
