Korean Automaker Set the Goal to Sell over 700,000 Vehicles in the U.S. Market This Year

John Krafcik, President and CEO of Hyundai America

SEOUL, KOREA– Hyundai Motor Company announced the U.S. sales goal to sell over 700,000 vehicles through an aggressive marketing campaign with its new cars. John Krafcik, president and CEO of Hyundai America, said that the new cars will be launched this year and will be a dynamic force to sell 713,000 vehicles within this year. The new goal is an increase of about 10% over a year ago – Hyundai sold 645,691 vehicles in the U.S. last year. Hyundai would break the annual sales record, if they achieve their goal. Krafcik’s assurance is based on new cars which will be sold in the U.S. in this year.

The new Azera, which is called the Grandeur in Korea, will go on sale in April and the new Santa Fe, which was unveiled at the 2012 New York International Auto Show in April this year, will be release late in this summer. In the latter of half of this year, Elantra Coupe and GT will go on sale. Genesis Coupe, which has a new engine and a new Veloster Turbo, has been praised in the U.S. market.

Krafcik said, “Hyundai is steadily growing in the automotive industry. This year is no exception because we have high quality and value, so customers get their money’s worth.” In the U.S., Hyundai’s market share has steadily increased every year although it decreased slightly in the first quarter of this year because they were in short supply by a fast growing demand. For achieving a sales goal as well as steady growth in the U.S. market, Hyundai should provide a system, which produces more vehicles, in order to meet high demands.
