Is the motor that is coming in the 2012 Elantra Coupe the same 2.4L 6 speed automatic found in the 2012 Sonata as well?

Curb Weight (lbs) 3161
City (MPG) 24
Hwy (MPG) 35
Horsepower [email protected]
Torque (lb-ft) [email protected]

Those are the numbers from the 2012 Sonata

I haven't looked into it but I don't see why not, it wouldn't make sense for a manufacture to develop two engines that have the same liter rating. Never seen this happen, ever....not with Hyundai and not with any other brand.

^ agree. doesn't make any sense at all to have 2 engines that are identical. More than likely it's the same engine.

a lot of car makers use specific engines in a few or more of their vehicles. saves R&D money!

wait, did I miss something. Their coming out with an Elantra 2.4L?

We all missed that.......so did Hyundai. Now maybe when all is said and done the 2.0L 173hp GDI will show up in 2014. That's the word we have all heard.

I just have to say it but this elantra 2.4L will be flying! Isn't that a lot of displacement for such a car. For some reason I though the max was going to be a 2.0L
