Hi all. Has anyone replaced their Cabin Air Filter? And what brand did you use?

My 13 GS has just over 13k miles. Haven't changed it yet. Normally I use Purolator brand. But I read some Issues. Concerning Fitment. When I get a chance I'll check mine. I know where it is. And how to access. I have done them on my Fathers previous cars. Including Colbalt, 10 Elantra Touring. And checked his current 12 Limited sedan.

Thanks all

Thanks. If I am not mistaken, The 13 Elantra is different than yours. Don't know the price.

Yes, the 13 is different, I havn't had to change mine yet though, I'm only at 1500 miles so far. I would say if there is a dealer close to you just check with them first. Their prices may suprise you. also, dont be afraid to negotiate with their price. The price they tell you may have as much as a 300% mark up (thats not an exageration. I sell parts for a living). Generally they will sell to shops at only a 20% mark up so there is plenty of room to play with on their prices.

here is the OEM part number 087902H000A list price on it is $20.16 if they try to charge you more than that you can talk them down or tell them another dealer quoted you a lower price and see of they will match it.

Also after checking into it I found the 2010 and 2013 have the same part number and are in the same location. I Would have never guessed that.

I asked the Dealer where I purchased the car for a price once. On the Remote Starter. List price $350. Labor (For them to install) was $110 Hr. The shop quoted me somewhere around $700 Total. I bought it on Ebay for $315. Free Ship. No Tax. Did it myself in a couple hours.

I like the Purolator filters. I've used them(Cabin AF) before in my Escape. But I read somebody had problems with the size. Saying it was too big. And had to be squeezed in. Then again, Half the Reviews I read (Over the years) were referring to other things. Not what was posted to.

BKohs, Thanks for the Part Number. I did sell parts at one time. For AA Parts. Their prices are usually higher. Its on Sale for just under $16 for the Purolator.

It wont hurt to try the purolator. If anything you can just return it and only be out the time to run to the store. Worst case, your out the $16 and you know better for the future. hope it fite with no issues. let us know the outcome.

Just heard back from dealer. He wants to charge me $29.38 + Tax. Total of $31.44. I replied asking what the List Price is? Since that amount is kinda high.

Advance Lied. That $15.71 price was Online Only. Plus Ship or pickup at a store. Which most didn't stock. Actually cost me a little over $19 with Tax.

The Purolator is a Plain Paper Filter. Does Not have the Charcoal filter. Which is mostly for odors.

Took mine out. Wasn't bad. I could still see day light through it. I may keep the replacement.

What I decided is to Buy Online at the lower price. Pick up in a local store. Then return the Higher price one. The one the store ordered for me is almost $3 More. And with me being out of work at the moment, I need to cut expenses. I still have my job at Trane. Medical Leave for "Rotator Cuff Tendonitis" and have to apply for Temp Dis.

If $3 is the difference you must be in real need of money. I guess every bit helps, it all adds up. Hopefully things work out for you!

Actually, Yes. Trane had a Plant Shutdown last week of Dec. Snow Closure Jan 3. Sent home early on Jan 10. The last couple of Paychecks were light.

I am still waiting for Trane and the Drs office to fill out their paperwork. So I can send it in.

Yesterday I was contacted by Hewitt. And asked why I wasn't back at work. Told her. She said she would call the Nurse at Trane to find out. And I was so kindly informed that I don't have "Job Protection". Because I haven't been with Trane for at least 1 year.

I may just Return the filter. As I currently have no income. Except what I can sell. Can't shovel snow. Might make my shoulder worse.

I didn't mention earlier that, I actually have More wrong with my shoulder. Sept 2012 I had a Motorcycle Accident. Broke my L Clavicle. The way the bone healed, It pushes on my Shoulder blade. My Kyphosis doesn't help matters either. But according to NJ DVR, I am not disabled. So I cant get training for another occupation. Auto Shops wont hire me when they find out what's wrong with me. Trane almost didn't hire me. All I can do is bide my time. Until I finally get so bad that I end up on SSI. But I'll probably end up in the grave first.

As I am still waiting for my Paperwork from the Drs office and work, I decided to Return the filter. Have no income. Don't need the extra expense at this point.

If the weather was nicer, I could do some small jobs for some much needed income. Back in Sept I installed the Hyundai Remote Start myself. Took a few hours. But managed to Save a couple hundred dollars in Labor and "Shop Supplies"

As long as it's installed to factory specs, they wont be able to void anything. who's to say it wasn't installed at a dealer. however, if you mess something up in the process, they dont have to honr the warranty on those items.

Thanks, but thought if anything is dealer installed the work would be recorded on job ticket and entered under your VIN. And that's how the dealer would know that install was DIY...granted if no problems in the future that would take you into dealership then no possible foul. Correct?

I'm not 100% on how Hyundai works, but I know with VW (where I work) non warrantee work performed is only recorded in the dealership's database and not sent to VW. I will assume Hyundai is the same way. The only reason they get info on warrantee work is because it gets sent to the manufactuer so they can pay the claim.

I did the Remote Start on Sept 2 2013. So far so good. The only issue I have is, The remote range isn't the greatest. And I did mount the Antenna where Hyundai said to. under the Rear view mirror. Of course part of it could be the Cold weather. And the Lithium Battery in the remote. They need to be "Woken up". As the Manufacturers of Lithium Motorcycle batteries claim. My father noticed the same thing with his garage door opener remote.
