Hey Everyone,
My friend purchased his 2013 Hyundai Elantra sedan with 76,000 miles back in October 2018. Today, after almost 4 years of commuting and abuse, the transmission blew out on the highway at 191,839 miles. For anyone wondering about the lifespan of these transmissions that is the data point I present to you today! Now that is taking into account the fact that the fluid was NEVER changed, I presume with fluid changes every 50k miles or so the transmission would last longer. But as for the idea of “lifetime fluid” it seems the lifetime is 191k miles….

My 2013 is at 184k. It only gets about 8500 a year (I've only had it 13 months) because it is a to/from work since it get's twice the MPG my truck does on top of not needing 93 octane. Every 1000 miles I drive it I save $100 in gas. I paid $600 for the car and everythign except TPMS works. I did have to do some minor things to it just because I didn't like the way it was so I'm up to $1200 total including taxes/title. Should pay for itself in the next 3 months.

Maybe I should look into a drain and fill on the fuild since I'm not far behind!
