I just recently bought a used 2007 Elantra sedan, automatic, 109,000kms. Just notice that while putting the car in ''P''ark in the driveway (slightly inclined), it kind of slipped 2 or three notches before engaging/stopping. Tac-tac sound. Yuk. Should I be concerned ($) or is there a simple fix?

Simple maybe but not cheap.
The transmission probably has to come out and apart to fix it.
Ask a shop or two to be sure.

There is a "pawl" that engages in the park position to "help" keep the car from rolling. The key word is "help". It apparently has been abused in the past.

NOW you just need to start using the parking brake religiously and engage it BEFORE you shift to park and everything should be fine.

Might want to consider changing the transmission fluid just to get a few metal flakes out with the old oil.
