It may sound glamorous, but owning a car in New York City blows chunks. It's expensive, time consuming, and risky. To make matters worse, cops will throw you a ticket for almost anything and cabs could care less if you crash in a fiery heap on the side of the road.

Today, in honor of taking the train, we count down 10 reasons why owning a car in NYC sucks.

10. Overzealous Cops

These fuckers will give you a ticket for anything. No turn signal? Ticket. Brake light out? Ticket. Fart in the wrong direction? Ticket. Think a bad thought? Ticket. You get the idea.

9. Insurance Premiums

Insurance companies salivate at the thought of insuring NYC drivers. Premiums are ridiculously high and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. Sucks bigtime.

8. Grand Theft Auto

Car jackers in the city are quick, well-trained, and usually packing heat. We say trade in that rolling piece of merchandise for a Metrocard. You will probably sleep better at night...

7. Potholes

These rim rockers will bust a tire faster than you can say Insurance Claim.

6. Traffic

Getting stuck in NYC traffic is like going to prison. It snarls suddenly, doesn't clear up for hours, and will easily ruin a night out on the town. Take our advice: the subway is a far better option.

5. Everyone Wants to Borrow Your Car

If you own a car in the city, everyone—and we mean EVERYONE—will want to borrow it. There is almost no way to avoid it.

4. Crazy Cab Drivers

These guys are nuts! They think the city is their personal racetrack and usually take no prisoners. Watch out!

3. City Gas

The prices for gas in the city are generally 20 percent higher than the national average. It's actually cheaper to drive to Jersey, fill up, and pay the $12 to get back via Lincoln or Holland Tunnels. The whole thing sucks big time.

2. Alternate Side Parking

Shuffling your car from one side of the street to the other sounds harmless and easy. Wait till you try doing it for a week. It's a nightmare.

1. Crazy Expensive Parking Tickets

$65 for a regular parking violation, $130 for parking in a crosswalk, $250 for a school zone. Holy Shitballs!!!
