Remote start

I have a 2018 Elantra with push button start. I had the dealer install an after market remote start. Trouble is, the engine shuts off when I open any door. Dealer has told me this is how it's supposed to work. Says it's a security measure. Seems dumb to me and it can't be too good for the engine. Any ideas? Is this normal ?

it is not normal, I know several people with remote starters, What good is it to start the car, then quit as soon as you open the door. I think it may be wired wrong.

Check with a Remote Starter company. Compustar. They will explain the problem you are having with the remote starter. You have to do a "takeover" . But not all aftermarket remote starters have that function. If not you will always have to restart. Nothing wrong with wiring.
