Lil' help understanding HorsePower!

Hi friends,

My understanding is the 2010 Elantra GLS (2.0L) had 138/6000rpm horsepower.

Then in 2011 (thru today) a new engine is in the Elantra GLS and SE. At the turn of 2011, they had (have) 145/6500rpm horsepower.

I'm considering buying a 2010 (at a steal) or a 2012 (decent price.)

Should I seriously consider going with more horses. Will it make a lot of difference. WILL I TRULY FEEL THE DIF?? The 2015 is 200 miles away and I haven't driven it. Will be driving some local 2012's soon. I hope I explained myself well enough.
