Elantra Control Arm Captive Nut

I have a 2006 Elantra GLS. The passenger side control arm is loose so I went to make the repairs. However, I found that I was unable to remove the bolt on the front bushing (the one closest to the front). When I turn the nut, it makes a screetching noise. I did some quick researched and learned that there is a captive nut in the sub-frame that can break loose. The dealer said I was going to have to replace the whole sub-frame.

At this point, I am not going to replace the sub-frame (too expensive and who knows what other problems I will stir up). Do you have any suggestions what I can do? I am very disappointing in Hyundai for this design.
