04 Elantra Air randomly blowing out of Defroster
Hi there. Looking for some more information about a quirky (but I'm sure common) problem with my 2004 Elantra GLS. When you have the climate control air direction knob set to the Defrost+Floor position (where it usually stays most of the time) the air will randomly start blowing full force out of the defrost location for a short period. This seems to happen mostly when decelerating but does also happen randomly. When I select other positions the air does move to the other locations but also might be delayed or random it seems. Not crisp changes at the turn of the knob like it should be. I have done some research and I'm wondering if the issue is related to the vent box actuator(s) or the control panel itself. I also notice that the indicator light for Air-Recirculate button jitters on and off making me think the control unit itself might be tweaked. This common among Elantras? I see used control boxes all day long on EBay for around $25 but I don't want to buy one if it's actually an actuator or loose linkage. Any help or insight from those that have been there already would be great!
