Cold Weather and Subwoofers?

Hi all. Trying to figure something out here.

Its been Extremely Cold here in NJ lately. Temps near 0F. Wind chill in the Negatives.

Here's the question. Does Cold Weather affect Subwoofers? My JL W3 has been barely noticeable since the Temps dropped. Is it possible that the cold is causing the subwoofer to become stiff? Or is it affecting the Kicker IX500.1 Amplifier? Or both? I may need to contact Crutchfield Tech Support for this. I cant recall this ever happening before. Then again it hasn't been this cold for so long in awhile.

Thanks

Yes, yes and yes....possibly.

When things are THAT cold, the voltage being delivered to the amp might even be down a bit.

Call them if you must or just wait until it warms up a bit and see what happens.

Thanks Easy Rider. Might just be the Subwoofer. 20-30 Minutes at low volume, It wakes up.

I didn't know that temperature really affects the sub-woofer. I've never noticed anything. I'm sure warming up the car and the sound system a bit would fix the problem. Do you notice a distinct difference between warmer days and colder days?

Yes. Mon it warmed up a bit and the Sub worked fine. Only seems to happen when the Temp is Below 15F.

considering it's made of rubber and much like the rubber belts on our cars, rubber needs time to normalize it's temperature before it works at it's prime. If it was up to me i would let the cabin warm up and then start turning up the volume slowly and slowly to let it "break in"

Thanks. I've been doing that. Low volume to allow it to "Warm Up" using the Amplifier power.
