No, sorry, but that is not true.
You are shimming the axle mount, not the bearing.
The shim goes between the axle flange and the mounting point on the frame.
The bearing stays exactly where it is/was.

This is very clear in the video.

Wrong. The bearing is moving the amount of the shim you I stall even if there is a backing plate between it

The entire wheel assembly is moving, not just the bearing.
