we purchased 2 elantras, one limited sedan made in the US and one gls sedan made in korea.
i have had problems with the front end on the limited. it makes alot of noise going over small cracks and bumps in the road, its a big disappointment. it makes the whole car feel cheaper than it really is. i took it to the dealer and they said there is a bulletin on the problem but no fix. the limited also has more road noise, rattles, and the headliner feels very flimsy when you tap on it just behind the sunroof. all around the limited just does not feel as well built as the gls. i hate that i have to bash something made in the usa and i hate that i spent 4k more for this upgrade. the GLS has not had any problems, it feels quieter, more solid, no rattles. its not perfect, but feels a lot better than the LIMITED. i think the biggest improvement these cars need would be a much softer suspension. when you first test drive these cars they feel great but as you spend more time in them you just start to notice the bumpy harsh suspension. i wish manufacturers would focus on building cars with soft quiet suspensions instead of the stiff sport suspensions the car magazines are pushing. we don't drive these cars on race tracks. for long term these harsh suspensions are much harder on the car, will create more rattles, and much harder on your body. on another note every elantra i test drove occasionally has a slight rough idle, you would think hyundia would be able to fix this but no. there is a lot to like about these cars but hyundai needs to address these issues for me to recommend them at their current sticker prices.
