2019 Hyundai Elantra seatbelt warning

I have a 2019 Elantra, and occasionally the seatbelt warning will go on for no reason. I will have nothing in the passenger seat and it wonít stop until I put on my invisible passengers seatbelt.

It doesnít happen often, but itís annoying when it does.

Went in for my 54k service and they said they didnít notice it. They only took it around the block and it happens far too infrequently for me to be lucky enough for someone else to witness it.

Anyone else have this issue?

I had the same issue with my 2017 Value Edition. Drove me bonkers because I couldn't even have my cellphone sitting on the seat, or it would set off the sensor and then it would disable the air bags. I took it to the dealership multiple times, and was told that it was working as expected and they were not allowed to adjust the sensitivity. I was told the last time, "Maybe you shouldn't carry anything on the passenger seat"...um...yeah, I was all sorts of pissed, but it told me I should just drive with the seatbelt always plugged in on the passenger side. My 2020 Sport doesn't have this issue. Wish I could help you more.

I have encountered this problem a few times here in the states and with an assistant I could perform a passenger side seat weight calibration using various weights ranging from 10 to 50 lbs. This is fixable. I would ask the dealer to check for airbag fault codes as well as perform this calibration. I certified Hyundai tech will know what to do.

Good Luck
