I need Advice

I have a 2005 Elantra Gt that was involved in a front end collision. The air bags did not go off and the car was repaired. Before I go too far the car had no issues before the accident. It is one of the best cars I have ever owned. Anyway I got the car back and the dash lights, trip meter, and air bag light(one above shifter) were inoperable. The alarm would not work but this is because the right side of the hood is too far up on the passenger side and was not pushing the alarm pin switch down. Anyway I drove the car over the weekend and took it back to the body shop on Monday with a list of what was not working. I received a call from the shop today and I am not confident they know what they are doing. I was informed there is a problem with the seat belt system on the driver's side and the insurance company will pay the $500.00 for a new seat belt as a used one is not allowed to be used by the insurance company. Then he said the insurance company would not pay another penny to get the dash lights working and asked if I wanted to pay. Here is more bad news. He said he replaced the dash cluster and the lights still do not work. I asked if it was replaced with a cluster from a GT and he did not know. I am upset now because if I am correct the GLS had white lighting and the GT blue/purple lighting so even if he gets them working I may have the wrong color. He also said the trip meter was impossible to fix. It is stuck on trip mode and will not even reset to zero.He claims the seat belt replacement will fix the air bag light but the one I noticed was the light for the passenger seat was not lit when the seat was empty. Has anyone ever had a similar problem or any idea what the shop is overlooking? Bruce

I think you should take this up with the insurance company. I am pretty sure it does not pass safety requirements with all the dash lights not working. Sucks to hear.

Maybe time to sell and upgrade to the 2013?
